We welcome recipe submissions from our readers and are pleased to pass along this dog stew recipe from Sherry Faubus. She designed this recipe because of a tragic circumstance. She lost her 6-month-old puppy, Lucky, to Acute Renal Failure, Liver Failure and Pancreatitis after feeding him a bad batch of commercial dog food. She shares her home with three Jack Russell Terriers, as well as numerous dogs from a local rescue. She feeds all of her pups this recipe, which she named in honor of Lucky, and they love it. We love all the wonderful ingredients, which include plenty of meat and veggies. Sherry recommends feeding 1 cup of stew per every 10 pounds (of dog).

Lucky’s MMMMeaty Homemade Dog Stew Recipe

Ingredients:

1 lb ground turkey

1 lb ground chicken

1 lb beef liver chopped

4 cups water

1 cup diced carrots

1 cup diced green beans

1/2 cup frozen chopped spinach

2 cups uncooked rice

4 tablespoons brewer’s yeast

4 calcium carbonate tablets, crushed
