Rub-a-dub – Look’s who’s back in the tub to test out RELIQ Mineral Shampoo For Dogs

Who doesn’t like a day at the spa? Well, Oscar for one. Since he started his position as our Head Product Tester, that dog has never been cleaner. Seriously, he is the cleanest dog at the dog park. But before giving him a bath break for a couple of weeks, I wanted to test out one last shampoo on him – RELIQ’s Mineral Spa Shampoo.

What’s pretty cool about the RELIQ line is that it contains nano-enhanced volcanic minerals. Yep, you read that right – to make this shampoo, they travel deep into the heart of an active volcano, without any thought to their safety, to get the minerals for these products. Okay, I may be exaggerating that last part, but these minerals are derived from volcanos and act as instant odor eliminator – that’s still pretty cool in my books. Combining this mineral with cutting edge nanotechnology enables this shampoo to be effective in cleaning a pet’s skin and coat as well as follicle maintenance.

For scent, I went with the Pomegranate formula. I noticed as soon as I popped the top that it wasn’t overly perfumy, instead giving off a light, fresh smell. Like I mentioned before, this shampoo contains nano-enhanced minerals that break through bonds of odor molecules and dissolve them on contact. Not only that, but pomegranate acts as antioxidant, which is just one of the reasons why people eat this yummy fruit. As well, this shampoo contains Vitamin E and Pro-vitamin B5 along with olive oil PEG-7 for conditioning.

Of course, Oscar didn’t really care when I told him about all the awesome things were in this shampoo – he just gave me the stink eye… as you can see in this picture. Even after I gave him a super-cool doggy Mohawk, he was still less than impressed with me and my desire to treat him a relaxing spa day.

The Verdict

What I liked most about RELIQ Pomegranate Mineral Spa Shampoo was its light fragrance. Oscar smelled so good for about a week, but the scent was never overpowering. He gave off a light, fresh smell all week long. I couldn’t help picking him up to sniff his fur… it almost became a habit (the first step is admitting you have a problem). As for his coat, it was soft, and I noticed that he wasn’t scratching himself as much as he usually does. I guess those vitamins really did their work their magic. The next time Oscar needs a spa day, I will definitely be using this product again.

The RELIQ Mineral Spa Shampoo For Dogs comes in a range of formulas, including Pomegranate, Jasmine, Lavender, Green Tea and Rosemary. A 500ml/16.9 oz bottle retails from $14.99. To purchase, visit the RELIQ website.
