If you live in a multi-pet household or have neighbors visiting in through the cat door, Mookkie will be a lifesaver.

With the rising popularity of smart and AI-powered gadgets for pets, the competition in the market is fierce. From automatic treat dispensers to wearable tech for man’s best friend, it seems that the majority of the pet industry is keeping up with the technological advancements. The latest revolutionary product that’s set to hit the shelves by the end of the year is Mookkie, a food bowl for cats that relies on facial recognition to make sure that the kibble is served to the right feline.

The futuristic-looking pet food bowl is equipped with a camera that scans any critter that approaches it. Then, by using artificial intelligence software, Mookkie is able to tell which pet is in front of it and open to reveal food if the curious kitty matches the one “paired” to the bowl. The principle is the same as with newer smartphones, which use face ID for unlocking.

In addition, this smart bowl uses a Wi-Fi connection to send you video footage of your kitty gobbling down their favorite kibble. I mean, this gets point for sheer cuteness value, but it’s also really useful if you want to check how much your pet eats in one sitting.

By the look of it, there will be many uses for Mookkie, from stopping noses neighbor cats feasting on your pet’s meals to making sure your dog is not snarfing down high-protein cat food. However, my opinion is that this AI-powered pet food bowl will be a heaven sent for us cat parents that have more than one feline companion. Having a way to know how much each cat eats or making sure that every cat eats the type of food they’re supposed to without having to monitor them sounds ideal.

Hopefully, we’ll all get to see for ourselves how Mookkie can change the lives of pets and pet owners when it becomes available to the public. Volta, the company behind it, plans to introduce this innovative product in September 2019, starting at $189.
